THE SUN 🔵 Frank Lampard faces major transfer blow with Coventry star Bobby Thomas wanted by Premier League club
BRENTFORD are keeping a close watch on Frank Lampard favourite Bobby Thomas.
The 24-year-old has been a regular this season for Lampard’s Coventry, who are ten points clear at the top of the Championship.

Thomas has completed the full 90 minutes in all but two of the Sky Blues’ 18 league games so far this term, netting two goals as well.
His impressive displays have been reward for the Midlands side holding on to him in the summer after turning down an ÂŁ8million bid from Sheffield United.
Thomas has a growing list of admirers in the Premier League, with Everton and Leeds also understood to be keen on him, along with the Bees.
Lampard has overseen the 6ft 4ins defender’s progress and lavished praise after Thomas’ man-of-the-match display against Sheffield United last month.

The ex-Chelsea boss said: “To see how he’s developed is all credit to him because I think all facets of his game are growing.
“The basics have always been there, he’s a big powerful centre half but I think his all-around game is really good.”

Thomas was born in Chester and was on the books of Everton as a schoolboy.
He then went to Crewe Alexandra’s academy but his progress was hindered due to suffering from Osgood-Schlatter’s syndrome – a common cause of knee pain in teenagers which has affected many footballers, including Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.

After leaving Crewe in 2017, he was picked up by Burnley’s youth team, eventually making his first-team debut in the Carabao Cup.
A series of loans to Kendal Town, Barrow, Joey Barton’s Bristol Rovers and Barnsley followed, before a permanent switch to Coventry in 2023.
He has been an ever-present for the Sky Blues in the Championship ever since, playing the entirety of the heartbreaking 2024 FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester United at Wembley.
