THE SCOTTISH SUN 🔵 ‘That’s so disrespectful’ say eagle-eyed Celtic fans as Greg Taylor named in Ross County starting line-up then replaced

CELTIC fans looked on the funny side after the Hoops’ social media team mistakenly named Greg Taylor in the starting line-up for today’s clash with Ross County in the Highlands.

The initial graphic posted by the Hoops erroneously had a Taylor in the starting line-up and on the bench.

But it was promptly deleted, with a corrected version posted instead – with Alex Valle starting at left back and just one Taylor, on the bench.

It was clearly an innocent mistake – and one the Hoops’ admin on X fessed up to – but fans couldn’t help put point out the timing after manager Brendan Rodgers branded them ‘disrespectful’ to the Scotland star for singing about Kieran Tierney.

One fan wrote: « Nice one admin posting it twice. »

A second said « That’s so disrespectful to Greg Taylor. »

A third said: « No two Taylors this time? »

While a fourth asked ‘What happened there? » a fifth said: “There’s only one Greg Taylor … »

There’s been some light-hearted banter between Rodgers and the club’s ultras on the topic after he slammed them for singing about Tierney, who we told you is close to a sensational return to the club on a pre-contract.

Fans belted out tributes to past heroes such as Henrik Larsson and Tommy Burns during the midweek clash against Dundee Utd.

As for Taylor – who is interesting the MLS – the clock is ticking for him and Celtic to agree to new terms but, in public at least, Rodgers has said he wants to hold onto the player.

He said after the St Mirren match: « That’s a total lack of respect. Of course there is.

Why did Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers create an issue over fans’ Kieran Tierney song?

« Greg Taylor, he’s been absolutely amazing at this club.

« How does he feel? I haven’t spoken to him, but I don’t think he can miss it, being on the pitch.

« He nearly breaks his nose, bleeding for the club, for a cause.

« It’s not very respectful to sing for another player, no matter what Kieran’s history is. I don’t like that.

« What I know is this is a man who gives everything for this club.

« He’s there for the team, he stands up and is counted. The next mistake, he goes again. »
