TODD CANTWELL has bagged his first goal since leaving Rangers.

The English midfielder left Ibrox in the summer after a public falling out with boss Philippe Clement.

Even if neither of them quite admitted to it, their relationship in Glasgow turned sour not long after the Belgian took over.

Cantwell was a key player under the man who signed him, Michael Beale, but he was often played out of position or left out completely by Clement.

And famously he was subbed off BEFORE half-time in one game.

In a press conference after the pre-season game against Birmingham City, Clement claimed that Cantwell had asked for a transfer.

But Cantwell refuted that notion.

And rather surprisingly, Cantwell opened the door to a sensational return to Rangers one day.

In any case, he seems to be enjoying life at his new club.

Cantwell has been playing regularly when fit for Blackburn Rovers and today he grabbed his first goal for the Lancashire side.

The 26-year-old struck from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute of Rovers’ game against Leeds United in the Championship.

Cantwell steered the ball past Leeds goalie Illan Meslier to put Blackburn 1-0 up at Ewood Park.

He then unleashed his infamous dancing celebration – the same one that used to irk Clement.

Fans were quick to applaud Cantwell on social media for his exploits.

One said: « Todd Cantwell and Tyrhys Dolan running the show. »

Another said: « Cantwell let’s gooo! »

A third wrote: « Ice veins from Cantwell. »
