THE SCOTTISH SUN 🔵 Rangers hero Alfredo Morelos told to agree PAY CUT as old boss Pedro Caixinha plays hardball
FORMER Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been told he can stay at homeland club Nacional… if he agrees to a pay cut from Brazilian giants Santos.
The Colombian hitman was a hero for his side as he helped them to a league and cup double in Colombia during his successful loan spell.
He’s due back in Brazil at Santos to work again with flop ex-Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha, who was appointed as his manager last month.
However, Nacional president Sebastián Arango has revealed they are closing in on a move that could lead to another loan spell with the club.
He said: « We are making good progress with Alfredo, who wants to continue here.
« I told him very early on last season that we wanted to have him.

« Not for six months this time, but for a year on loan, that is our aim and it is our wish that Alfredo will be with us throughout 2025.
« With regards to his salary, there are parts of the contract I would like to keep private, but it is fair to say Alfredo is making an effort on all fronts regarding that.
« He is a top player that we are lucky to have.
« He has scored goals at the highest level in European competition and we are hoping to make an announcement soon. »
Morelos netted 124 goals in 269 games for Rangers in a six-year spell and scored seven goals in 18 games for Nacional last term.
It seems likely that he WON’T be playing under Caixinha this season, with the Gers boss recently recalling the moment he met Morelos for the first time.
He told Globo Esporte (via Gol): « I arrived, he was not there and the information is there. I met Alfredo Morelos (at Rangers). We bought him, he arrived overweight.
« He had incredible physical strength. He had to work hard to regain his weight. His nickname was Bufalo and Chuta-Chuta and the rest of what he did at Rangers is history.
« Then I found him as an opponent when I was at Red Bull Bragantino against Santos. »
