THE SCOTTISH SUN 🔵 Listen as comp winner donates winnings to sick kids ‘if they’re not Celtic fans’

A RADIO competition winner offered to donate his winnings to sick children – so long as they weren’t Celtic fans.

The entrant, named Scott, took part in Clyde 1’s 5K Minute game live on the Bowie at Breakfast programme this morning.

Competitors are given the chance to win £5,000 if they can answer ten random trivia questions within 60 seconds.

Caller Scott managed to answer six of the questions correctly, meaning he missed out on the four-figure jackpot.

But he did win £30 cash courtesy of the competition‘s sponsor, Wholesale Domestic Bathrooms.

When presenter George Bowie told Scott of his winnings he said: « Just donate it to Cash for Kids (the radio station’s charity), as long as they aren’t Celtic fans. »

Whether the comment was intended as a joke or not didn’t sit well with the show‘s hosts.

Live at the time, Bowie responded: « Oh wow, oh dear.

« We’ve got love for all fans of all clubs, everywhere. »

Co-host Cassi Gillespie said: « And I think when it comes to the kids, that does not matter. »

Bowie added: « Yes, it does not matter with the children at all. »

The caller appeared to say something else in reply but it couldn’t be heard clearly on the broadcast.

Later, on social media, Bowie and Gillespie were quizzed by punters about the caller’s comments.

Bowie said in response to one fan: « He was a bit of a walloper mate. Who cares about football when you’re trying to help kids. »

And Gillespie added: « One word…tadger. »

Plenty of other fans of the show shared their dismay after hearing the broadcast.

One said: « And this is why things should be pre-recorded…I don’t support any old firm team but that was disgusting! »

Another said: « Guy is pathetic to say a comment like that! »
