THE SCOTTISH SUN 🔵 Gers hero McCoist presented with OBE by Prince William as his family watches on
ALLY McCOIST was no stranger to picking up medals during his football career.
And here’s the moment he got his hands on some more silverware today when the Prince of Wales Prince William presented him with an OBE at Windsor Castle.
The Rangers and Scotland legend has reinvented himself as one of the game’s top pundits and he’s been recognised for his services to football and broadcasting.
That’s after he previously received an MBE back in 1994.
McCoist decided against wearing the kilt in favour of a smart suit for the occasion, having previously said he planned to make small talk with the Prince of Wales about Aston Villa and John McGinn.
He was watched by members of his family at his investiture ceremony at the famous Berkshire castle.

William is a Villa fan and it’s a subject he and McCoist have bonded over before.
Speaking on his TalkSPORT breakfast show ahead of the event, McCoist said: « I’ve met Prince William before on a plane going to Aberdeen.
« We ended up having a wee chat about Villa.
« John McGinn had just signed and he was thrilled about it. »
Proud Scotsman Ally revealed he sought help from his favourite barber to look the part for his big day as he explained why he had decided against donning the kilt.
He quipped: “It’s controversial.
« If the wind blew my kilt up they would be flocking from everywhere to Windsor Castle.
“My wee pal in Paisley gave me a right seeing to with the open razor.”
