THE SCOTTISH SUN 🔵 Ex-Rangers kid Dapo Mebude finds new club as he returns to Scottish football
DUNFERMLINE have announced the permanent signing of Dapo Mebude.
The former Rangers youngster – who was left in a coma after a horror car crash in January – was on trial with the Pars and has now agreed a one-year deal.
The 23-year-old was left fighting for his life at the start of this year following an accident while playing in Belgium for Oostende.
The Ibrox academy graduate hit a tree after going off the road, having to be cut from his Mercedes by the fire brigade.
He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition and underwent successful surgery.
London-born Mebude admitted doctors told him he was lucky to be alive.

He said: “If the car wasn’t made as well, or if certain parts weren’t there or a certain height to protect me, I could have been dead.
“I broke one of my ribs but the biggest issue was I had a contusion [severe bruise] in my chest.
« I had blood around the area, so they had to open me up to suck the blood away.
“They thought it was worse than it was once they got in (to the heart) so they didn’t have to go as deep but it was still quite extreme.”
Mebude was handed his Gers debut by Steven Gerrard in 2019, a Scottish Premiership defeat to Kilmarnock.
He moved to Watford two years later, while a loan spell at AFC Wimbledon preceded his switch to the Belgians in September 2022.
