THE SCOTTISH SUN 🔵 Aberdeen ranked best in form team in Europe after incredible stat revealed
ABERDEEN have been setting Scottish football alight under Jimmy Thelin this season.
Their 2-1 win over Dundee on Saturday continued the Swede’s perfect start to his Pittodrie reign as they made it six league victories out of six – and 12 in all competitions.
Only Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic have matched them in the Scottish Premiership as they sit top of the pile on goal difference.
But there is a real buzz around the Granite City these days, with fans believing it could finally be the season that ends the reign of both Glasgow clubs in the top flight.
And Reds fans went home from Dens Park at the weekend singing ‘We’re going to win the league’ after seeing their side go three points clear of the champions – albeit only for a couple of hours – at the top.
But although the Hoops are currently leading the pack in Scotland, Aberdeen are actually the number one team in EUROPE going off current form, according to an incredible statistic.

Following last night’s Champions League action, the Dons are now the only team in Uefa‘s top 50 leagues to still have a 100 per cent record in all competitions this season.
European big guns such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester City have all been beaten at least once since the start of the campaign.
Similar to Aberdeen, Celtic had also enjoyed a perfect start before they were thrashed by Borussia Dortmund in Germany this week.
Sporting Lisbon were in a similar position but they also saw their record crumble after they played out a 1-1 draw with PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands on Tuesday.
Now Aberdeen are just the sole club to maintained their record – albeit without being tested in Europe like other clubs.
However, despite having a clear advantage over other top sides around the continent, Aberdeen fans were left stunned after being made aware of the surprising stat.
Taking to social media, one man joked: « We’re by far the greatest team the world has ever seen. »
Someone else wrote: « European Elite. Tried and true. »
While a third laughed: « If you’d have told me this at the start of the year I’d have thought you were mental. »
Meanwhile, it’s not all good news for the Pittodrie club as they were also dealt a major blow with top scorer Pape Habib Gueye out until NEXT YEAR after tearing a quad muscle.
A club statement read: « Pape Habib Gueye will miss up to 14 weeks with a quad muscle tear picked up in training last week.
“The Senegalese forward had been in red hot form for the Dons this season, netting six times in six starts for Jimmy Thelin’s side.
“Following a scan to confirm the extent of the damage, the 25-year-old will undergo surgery before an intensive rehab programme, with a return to action not expected until January.”
