LA GAZZETTA EXPRESS 🔵 Rod Stewart reveals explosive Rangers referee conspiracy theory while Ally McCoist silences Celtic supporter with single devastating word

Sir Rod Stewart has raised concerns about referee impartiality in Scottish football, prompted by a penalty decision in Rangers’ commanding 5-1 victory over Kilmarnock. The legendary musician and devoted Celtic supporter wanted to discuss the spot kick awarded after Dom Thompson’s early dismissal, despite acknowledging the decision was correct.

Thompson received a red card just four minutes into the match for a tackle inside the box on Djeidi Gassama. James Tavernier converted the resulting penalty, setting Rangers on course for a dominant performance. The win moved Rangers to second place, closing the gap on Hearts to three points. Kilmarnock manager Neil McCann accepted referee David Dickinson’s call without complaint.

Speaking on talkSPORT with fellow Celtic enthusiast Alan Brazil, Stewart voiced his frustration about perceived bias in Scottish refereeing. He proposed that officials should publicly declare their football allegiances. Stewart referenced how such measures already exist in the English Premier League and questioned why Scotland could not implement similar procedures to ensure neutral decision-making.

Brazil countered by noting that Rangers supporters hold the opposite perspective, claiming their team faces prejudicial treatment from officials instead. He highlighted a longstanding complaint among Celtic fans about unfair decisions. The exchange illustrated the deeply entrenched nature of these concerns across Scotland’s football community, with both major clubs perceiving systemic disadvantages.

Stewart maintained that Scotland’s football reputation suffers from these ongoing disputes about officiating integrity. Ally McCoist, a renowned Rangers figure, responded through co-host Gabby Agbonlahor by suggesting the Celtic representatives were anxious about Rangers’ recent competitive form under Danny Rohl’s management and their upward trajectory in the standings.
