[GOOGLE NEWS FOOT UK] 🔵 Queens Park Rangers Boosted In Pursuit Of League Champion

Queens Park Rangers have been dealt a boost in their hopes of signing Paris Saint Germain attacker Ethan Mbappe, the younger brother of Ballon d’Or contender Kylian, according to the latest reports.

It was reported by French outlet Le Parisien back in May that QPR had joined the race for Mbappe’s signature but faced stiff competition from the likes of Lille and European giants Borussia Dortmund as well as Ajax. Nevertheless, it looked as though Lille were set to come out on top and acquire the 17-year-old’s services.

However, Le 10 Sport revealed earlier this morning that Queens Park Rangers have been dealt a boost in their pursuit of Mbappe’s signature as the youngster’s move to Lille has fallen through, but that he will certainly leave PSG this summer.

Mbappe’s contract expires at the end of the month and, although there was an option to extend his stay by a further twelve months, the deadline for this passed last July and only the player himself could trigger it. Now, both Mbappes will leave the French capital this summer as Kylian flies to Madrid after EURO 2024 concludes, while Ethan’s next club remains undecided.

Unlike his brother, Ethan Mbappe plays in the middle of the park but still has a knack for finding the net. In 29 games for PSG’s youth sides this season in all competitions, the youngster bagged eight goals and recorded six assists. Furthermore, his impressive form earned him five senior appearances under Luis Enrique as he was gifted a Ligue 1 winner’s medal for his troubles.

Queens Park Rangers are looking to bolster their midfield this summer and Mbappe could be the perfect player to do so, particularly on a free transfer. The young midfielder can score goals and create chances which would help ease the load off Ilias Chair next season.

Nevertheless, Marti Cifuentes would be a miracle worker if he could convince the Frenchman to move to West London when clubs such as Ajax and Borussia Dortmund are watching him closely. That being said, QPR can offer him more consistent first-team minutes which he needs right now, whereas the others will see him as a long-term project.
