We are entering a crucial period of the season in the Championship as Leicester City look to increase their lead at the top of the table and take a step closer to earning promotion straight back to the Premier League.

The season couldn’t have gone much better under Enzo Maresca so far. City sit at the top of the Championship table, having acquired 75 points from their 31 games played this season.

The chasing pack are, however, pushing but face a fight against each other to get one of the two promotion places. Ahead of the midweek Championship fixtures, City are 11 points clear of second-placed Southampton, 12 clear of Leeds United in third place and 15 clear of fourth-placed Ipswich Town.

City return to action tonight (Tuesday), when they take on relegation-threatened Sheffield Wednesday in what is the first of back-to-back home games. The Owls were one of the teams to take points from City in the reverse fixtures, scoring a late equaliser at Hillsborough.

While City have home comforts this week, all of their rivals are on their travels. It’s something that City will look to make the most of.

While concentration will be on what City do on Tuesday, there will be some glances toward other results from those in the stands. With that in mind, here is a look at the next five fixtures coming up for all of the four teams going for the two automatic slots.
