[GOOGLE NEWS FOOT UK] 🔵 Leeds United man happy to stay as another PL club register interest

Leeds United attacker Crysencio Summerville is happy to stay at the club this summer amid Brighton eyeing up a move, as per TEAMtalk.

Leeds United are hoping to achieve promotion back to the Premier League this season.

The Whites narrowly missed out last time around losing in the play-off final to Southampton last month. Daniel Farke’s side were only a handful of points away from the league leaders, finishing in 3rd, however were unable to get through the lottery that is the play-offs.

Much-like last summer, this one is expected to be busy at Elland Road. The club are expected to have to sell a few of their top talents and one that has been heavily linked with a move away is Summerville.

The 22-year-old winger scored 20 goals and assisted another nine in 46 Championship outings last season.

It was his first full season in the first team at the Whites and his performances have unsurprisingly drummed up interest from the Premier League.

Liverpool and Chelsea were among the first to be linked. London-based Fulham soon joined them alongside Newcastle United, and now Brighton are the latest to register interest. The Seagulls reportedly would have Summerville involved in and amongst the starting XI immediately and they believe that could give them an edge in the race this summer.

However, TEAMtalk’s latest update suggests whilst interest is heavy, Summerville is happy at Leeds United if a deal isn’t struck this summer.

Taking off the pressure

Knowing the Dutch winger is happy at Elland Road definitely relieves some of the pressure at the club. They now don’t have to force a sale and therefore can ensure they get the best deal for them if they do decide to part ways. If not, having the youngster at the club next year will guarantee them a fair few extra points which will always be welcome.

Summerville will play consistent top flight football somewhere soon, but it is a sign of maturity that he isn’t forcing a move too early when maybe he doesn’t feel ready.

Should Leeds United achieve promotion with Summerville then he could have a second crack at the Premier League whilst at the club, or the Whites could demand a higher fee given they’d be back in the top tier.

Hitting the ground running

Leeds United will need to get off to a good start this season. Farke’s track record is good in the Championship, but a slow start would lead to discontent as they’d see several promotion candidates make ground on the Whites.

The Whites were arguably the best team in the league last season when firing to their max, however that didn’t happen often enough. The right additions this summer could lead to them being a real force to contend with and Farke could end up adding another automatic promotion to his CV.

But, there is a long way to go and it’s impossible to predict how the transfer window will go. Summerville could leave or stay, and at the moment it seems a few of Leeds United’s star men’s futures are in the air.
