GOODISON NEWS 🔵 Wilfried Ndidi decides on Everton offer, deal to be confirmed in days

Wilfried Ndidi has chosen to stay with Leicester City this summer despite receiving a bid from Everton, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The Belgian journalist reported via his personal X account on Wednesday (10 July) that the midfielder’s decision is set to be confirmed by the newly promoted Premier League side in the next few days.

Having run down his contract at the King Power Stadium, the Toffees were interested in signing the player as a free agent, though Fabrizio Romano has revealed [10 July] that Ndidi has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal.

Everton miss out on Wilfried Ndidi as new contract signed

While fans will see this as a major miss this summer, the signing of Ndidi was always going to have its twists and turns, especially with the player’s wage demands.

The 27-year-old rejected a move to Sevilla, turning down a £1.3million wage and wanting closer to the £3.8million he was accustomed to with the Foxes [Estadio Deportivo].

The investment certainly could have been worth it, though. Ndidi would add a lot of experience to any midfield, having accumulated almost 300 appearances during his time with Leicester.

He also has 46 caps for Nigeria on the international stage, which could have provided some wisdom in the middle of the park for Sean Dyche next season.

Everton have finally missed out on the transfer, however, with the player deciding to stay put at the King Power Stadium, rather than move to Goodison Park this summer.

The future of Dyche’s midfield is currently uncertain, especially with Amadou Onana sparking interest from clubs all over Europe and trying to impress on the international stage at Euro 2024.

If he were to leave, the manager would need to sign a backup for Idrissa Gana Gueye and James Garner before the 2024/25 campaign kicks off.
