GOODISON NEWS 🔵 Steven Pienaar reacts to Moyes appointment news, makes Everton fan plea

Steven Pienaar has welcomed David Moyes back to Everton by sharing a message via Instagram, while urging supporters to get behind the team.

The Scot confirmed his return to Goodison Park on Saturday (11 January), just days after the surprising news that Sean Dyche had been sacked.

This appointment has gone down well among Toffees’ fans and has been met with a positive response from former players on social media.

Pienaar is one of those who has reached out via Instagram [11 January] as he said: “Welcome back boss. Let’s get behind the team.”

There is no doubt that the former South Africa international is a fan favourite on Merseyside and it is great to see him reaching out.

It is a testament to the work of Moyes that his former players clearly rate him so highly and that can only be a plus for the Toffees in 2025 and beyond.

The former Manchester United boss has returned to Goodison Park for a second stint with the remit of keeping his new side in the Premier League.

This is much different to his last spell in charge, where European qualification was regularly on the agenda in L4.

Given that the 61-year-old won the Conference League with West Ham, there is good reason to believe that an upward turn could be possible for the Toffees.

If the Scottish head coach can get this current crop playing to the level of the likes of Pienaar and his teammates from his era, there is no reason why a positive Premier League finish can’t be achieved.
