GOODISON NEWS 🔵 Everton takeover update emerges as £28m Friedkin fines due

Roma may be set for a multi-million fine due to false declarations and this would not have an impact on the Everton takeover, according to Paul Brown.

The Josimar journalist shared an article by Italian media outlet Calcio Finanza [2 October] who conducted an investigation and claimed the fines could go up to as much as ÂŁ28million as Dan Friedkin and Ryan Friedkin refused to accept allegations of false financial declarations.

However, this likely happened before the Toffees takeover and will thus have no ramifications on the Friedkin Group’s purchase of the club.

Brown wrote on X: “Reports in Itay suggest Roma about to be fined for false declarations. Shouldn’t affect Friedkin’s purchase of Everton, and mostly happened before his takeover.”

Everton fans will not want any more financial mismanagement post the takeover

Roma and the Toffees are distinct entities under the Friedkin Group, each managed independently with separate financial and operational structures.

Therefore, Roma’s potential fine for false declarations, which occurred prior to the takeover process even began, should not directly impact the Merseyside outfit financially or operationally.

However, Everton fans might be concerned about the broader implications of such mismanagement within the Friedkin Group.

This concern stems from a fear that similar issues could arise at Goodison Park, indicating a cultural or systemic problem within the ownership’s approach to financial oversight.

While the club’s immediate financials remain unaffected, the incident could raise questions about the governance and due diligence processes of the Friedkin Group, potentially affecting fan trust and the club’s reputation for financial stewardship.

The Goodison Park faithful, already wary of past ownership challenges, will be keen to ensure that such controversies do not reflect or repeat in their club’s management.
