GOODISON NEWS 🔵 Everton appeal verdict timeframe prediction from Sky Sports journalist

Alan Myers predicts the outcome of the Everton points deduction appeal could come some time next week (19-25 February).

The Sky Sports journalist was responding to questions via Twitter on 13 February and indicated he didn’t expect it to arrive on Valentine’s Day amid a suggestion that rumour had it that the decision was coming in the next 36 hours.

It was reported on 30 January that the three-day appeal hearing was set to be heard over the following week [Sky Sports], with talkSPORT reporting the same day that the Toffees should get an answer by “mid February”.

But asked when it was coming Myers said: “I’m guessing next week sometime it I don’t know for sure.”

And to the claim that it was expected on 14 February he answered: “Not that I’m aware”.

Everton appeal verdict not expected Valentine’s Day

Fans are understandably anxious to find out what the outcome of the latest hearing is because it promises to have hugely significant ramifications.

The 10 points removed have left Everton in the thick of the relegation battle once more, where they had been comfortably in mid-table up until then.

An expert opinion has emerged that a significant reduction in the size of the sanction is on the cards, which would ease pressure immediately and set a precedent for the second referral that currently threatens to tip the balance too far against Sean Dyche and the players.

Nottingham Forest have been mooted to face more danger from the latest charges thanks to major player sales made at Goodison Park.

But as both clubs have been forced to admit a breach of profit and sustainability rules there remains the threat of a further punishment, so if the appeal verdict is a positive one it should help keep any subsequent sanction down.

The sooner the club and the fans know what they are dealing with the easier it will be to mentally rally, but it appears it could yet be some days away.

In other Everton news, a club are planning on a huge discount from the Toffees in an upcoming transfer pursuit.
