GOODISON NEWS 🔵 Dan Friedkin may not be an ideal Everton owner due to UEFA rule – Goodison News

Dan Friedkin may not be an ideal owner for Everton due to UEFA’s multi-club ownership rules.

If the American businessman were to complete a takeover of the Toffees, his simultaneous ownership of Roma would be in violation of that UEFA law should Everton and Roma both qualify for European competition in the same season.

Were that eventuality to occur, only one of the two clubs would be permitted entry – meaning Everton could potentially miss out.

Would Dan Friedkin be a good owner for Everton?

Friedkin’s tenure as Roma owner has not been a disaster by any means.

Under the American, the club have secured three consecutive sixth-place finishes and won the inaugural Europa Conference League, as well as reaching a Europa League final with Jose Mourinho as head coach.

However, the club have still consistently fallen short of coveted Champions League qualification, making Friedkin’s time as owner something of a mixed bag.

Roma’s regular participation in European competition, though, could prove an issue for Everton later down the line.

The Toffees may be some way off qualifying for European competitions at this stage, but fans will expect their new owner to harbour ambitions of taking them into the upper echelons of the table.

The consequences that would follow should that occur cast the legitimacy of Friedkin’s intentions into doubt – either he intends to sell Roma or he does not expect Everton to progress that far under his ownership.

Either way, the American should be lower down Farhad Moshiri’s list of potential takeover candidates.

In other news, the Toffees may need to sell Dominic Calvert-Lewin to seal a new transfer.
