GOODISON NEWS 🔵 Amadou Onana transfer update as Everton contact intermediaries

Everton are hoping to keep hold of Jordan Pickford and Jarrad Branthwaite this summer by instead selling Amadou Onana for a fee north of ÂŁ50million, according to HITC.

With Profit and Sustainability rules hampering the club’s ability to fund the purchasing of new players this summer, it’s been roundly accepted that the Toffees will be forced into some major player sales in the coming weeks.

Pickford, Branthwaite and Onana are seen as the club’s three most sellable assets, but HITC’s report states that of the trio, Onana is the player they’re least likely to put up a fight over and contact has been made with intermediaries to find a buyer.

The club remain hopeful of bringing in at least ÂŁ50million for the Belgium midfielder, albeit they are yet to receive a formal bid of any amount from another Premier League or European club.

Amadou Onana stance makes sense for Everton fans

If you were to ask any Toffees supporter which two of the three players they’d rather keep, you’d imagine the majority would say Branthwaite and Pickford.

The pair have made up a defence which, despite Everton languishing in the lower reaches of the table thanks to two points deductions for PSR breaches, conceded just 51 goals over the course of the campaign.

Everton will try their best to keep players like Jordan Pickford at the club this summer.

That’s the fourth-best defensive record in the Premier League, and with Pickford a staple as England’s number one and Branthwaite a player bursting onto the international scene himself, fighting tooth and nail to keep the pair is understandable.

Onana, however, while impressing at times has not always been the most consistent performer and Idrissa Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucoure arguably stepped up to the breach more during a difficult run-in, so you can see why Onana would be favourite to be sold and help balance the books a little.

Everton’s financial situation, not helped by an ongoing takeover fiasco between Farhad Moshiri and 777 Partners, could result in the club having to sell all three of their valued stars, but if it has to be one of them, don’t be surprised to see Onana departing Goodison Park.

In other Everton news, the club have moved ahead of Leeds United in the race for a midfielder.
