GOODISON NEWS 🔵 Alan Myers shares ‘Huge’ risk as Everton appoint Moyes

The Friedkin Group (TFG) appointing David Moyes at Everton is the “least risky” option, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports journalist feels there’s a “huge” risk changing mid-season after the Scotsman replaced Sean Dyche at Goodison Park.

While there are no guarantees of success under the 61-year-old at the Toffees, he has a proven record in the Premier League over the years.

Myers wrote on his personal X account (11 January): “I think we need to get to a stronger place before we take a chance on a new direction.

“There’s huge risk changing a manager mid-season. I think TFG see this as the least risky. Of course, there are no guarantees, but you have to go on probability at this point.”

David Moyes has no time to waste at Everton after return

Moyes has no time to waste at the Blues as they find themselves just one point above the relegation zone in the Premier League.

The Merseyside outfit struggled under Dyche, whose style of play wasn’t admired by most of the Goodison faithful.

While the former Burnley head coach had helped the Toffees survive the drop in the previous two campaigns, his sacking seemed inevitable after recent drab displays.

Everton will move to Bramley-Moore Dock for the start of next season, and it’s only fair to see Moyes managing them during the final months at Goodison Park.

The Scottish head coach spent over a decade at the Blues before joining Manchester United.

While the 61-year-old couldn’t achieve what he would have liked to at Old Trafford, his recent stint at West Ham was more than successful.

Moyes was appointed the Hammers’ boss when they were in a similarly difficult period, and he went on to lift the Europa Conference League at the London Stadium.

It will be interesting to see the Scotsman’s starting lineup against Aston Villa on Wednesday (15 January).

In other Everton news, Moyes’ return may spell bad news for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
