DAILY RECORD 🔵 Tochi Chukwuani joins Rangers in £4million transfer as Dane becomes Danny Rohl’s first signing

The defensive midfielder has joined Gers from Austrian side Sturm Graz where he won a league title last season

Rangers have completed the signing of Tochi Chukwuani on a three-and-a-half year deal from Sturm Graz – with the Dane becoming the first arrival under Danny Rohl.

Record Sport broke the news that a fee of £4million had been agreed between Gers and Austrian side Sturm Graz, with Ibrox technical director Dan Purdy leading the negotiations. Chukwuani, 22, started his career in his native Denmark with Nordsjælland and Lyngby before making the move to Austria in 2024.

The defensive midfielder has won 20 caps for Denmark at youth level and was a teammate of Light Blues star Mohamed Diomande in his time at Nordsjælland. He made 27 league appearances last season to help Graz lift the league title.

Speaking to the club’s website, he said: “I’m super excited. Rangers are a huge club and I can’t wait to hear the roar at Ibrox. It’s a historic club with a huge fanbase. There are huge expectations, and this is something as a footballer you want to play in front of.

“It gives motivation every weekend to go and give 100 per cent and do what you can to put smiles on people’s faces.”

Manager Rohl added: « We are really excited to bring Tochi to the club.

“He is a player who strengthens our group and offers specific qualities that we believe will enhance our midfield department. With experience of European competition and winning titles, as well as his technical and physical attributes, he knows exactly what is required to thrive at a club like Rangers.”

Chukwuani won’t be the only new face through the doors in Govan this month as boss Rohl looks to maintain his team’s title tilt. Tuur Rommens is preparing to clinch his £3million move to Rangers.

The Belgian Under 21 skipper has agreed terms on a three and a half year deal. He’s currently going through his medical and expects to put pen to paper today.

Gers will pay his club side Westero an initial £2.6million – with another £500,000 due in performance-related add-ons. Rohl is also keen to try to land Sunderland duo Dan Neil and Romaine Mundle.
