DAILY RECORD 🔵 Andrew Cavenagh breaks Rangers takeover cover after Fenerbahce epic with nine-word address

The health insurance tycoon is a key player in the US consortium’s takeover of the Scottish Premiership giants
American tycoon Andrew Cavenagh has broken his silence for the first time since Record Sport unveiled that he is the leading force behind the Rangers takeover.
Going into the epic Europa League second leg with Fenerbahce, we revealed that Cavenagh was set to be part of delegation that had the red carpet rolled out for them at Ibrox.
The four man group included San Francisco 49ers representative Gretar Steinsen – the former Iceland international who was lured into a key role at Leeds United by the NFL giants.
Cavenagh has been in Istanbul last week to watch Barry Ferguson’s side romp to a stunning 3-1 win – and checked into a plush city centre hotel just after 3pm on Thursday before a thrilling night under the lights in Glasgow.
He was in the stands to soak up the atmosphere as Ferguson and his men celebrated reaching the quarter-finals in the wake of the Light Blues’ thrilling penalty shoot-out victory over Jose Mourinho’s men.
Cavenagh has some brief words for the Sky Sports cameras as he left Ibrox after the game, stating: « A great match tonight. I’m just here to support the club. »
Cavenagh’s arrival on Scottish soil is the clearest indication yet that his multi-million buyout is nearing completion.
Record Sport previously revealed how he had attended a home match against St Johnstone in January. That was before it was publicly known to be at the heart of the US consortium’s plans to hoover up more than 50 per cent of the shareholding.
The Philadelphia based medical insurance mogul is set position himself front and centre of the bid to transform the fortunes of the Scottish Premiership club.
It’s understood a series of agreements to buy out several key shareholders have been thrashed out with the paperwork now in the hands of teams of lawyers for legal rubber stamping.
As part of the deal, Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe – head of 49ers Enterprises and Elland Road chairman – have also pledged to pump millions of pounds into the club ahead of the summer transfer window.
