Jonjo Shelvey is in talks to join Burnley after his contract at Turkish side Eyupspor was cancelled by mutual consent.
Shelvey made just six appearances for Eyupspor after joining from Caykur Rizespor last summer.
The 32-year-old possesses a wealth of experience having featured in the Premier League for four different clubs.
Scott Parker, are currently in second place in the Championship as they look to secure a return to the Premier League.
A statement confirming Shelvey’s departure from Eyupspor read: ‘We have parted ways with professional football player Jonjo Shelvey by mutual consent.
‘We would like to thank Jonjo Shelvey for his contributions to our team and wish him success in his future career.’
Shelvey was capped by England at senior level on six occasions between 2012 and 2015.
After starting his senior career at Charlton, Shelvey first played in the Premier League for Liverpool before going on to have spells at Swansea, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.
Burnley have already been active in the January transfer window, with defender Oliver Sonne joining from Silkeborg.
Forward Ashley Barnes also returned to Burnley after leaving Norwich.
