Hundreds of soldiers have been put through their paces in the Galloway Forest.

It is part of a wider two-week training operation known as Hector’s Storm.

The Royal Regiment of Scotland – the Scottish division of the British Army – has spent two days sleeping outdoors, surviving on rations and taking part in rural combat exercises.

The forest’s woodlands and terrain made an « ideal training ground » to ensure they are prepared for deployment in various environments abroad.
